Westminster Abbey at a glance
Westminster Abbey is a working church and a major sight in its own right. It sits at Dean's Yard, postcode SW1P 3PA, close to Parliament Square. The Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St Margaret's Church share one World Heritage listing, which dates from 1987. That listing does not mean one shared ticket: the Abbey and Parliament sell their own tickets, and you book each separately.
This site is an independent guide and is not run by the Abbey or by Parliament. Prices below are the adult and concession rates in October 2026. Rates can change during the year, so check the current price when you book.

Opening hours and last entry
On a regular Monday to Friday the Abbey is open from 09:30 to 16:30, and the last entry is at 15:30. On Saturday it opens from 09:00 to 16:00, with last entry at 15:00. On Sunday the Abbey holds services instead of sightseeing visits.
Hours can change for special occasions, and the church can close at short notice for church services and events. Check the day's hours before you travel, especially if you plan to arrive late in the afternoon.
You can attend a service for free through the Great West Door. A service is worship, not a replacement for a sightseeing visit, so you cannot expect to walk around the church as a tourist.

Combining the Abbey with Parliament
Two sights, two tickets, two entrances.
Know the two entrances
The Abbey's address is Dean's Yard. The main Parliament visitor entrance is Cromwell Green at the Palace of Westminster. Look at a map before you set off and do not assume the two share a gate.
Getting to Parliament →Saturday works for both
The Abbey opens at 09:00 on Saturdays, and Parliament runs tours on Saturdays all year. Tour dates and times change, so book a Parliament slot first and fit the Abbey around it.
Parliament tours →Allow time for security
Parliament has an airport-style security check. Arrive at least 20 minutes before your ticket time, and allow longer on busy afternoons. Leave a buffer between the two visits.
Visitor rules →Skip Sunday for the Abbey
Sunday is a day of services at the Abbey, not sightseeing. Plan the Abbey for a weekday or Saturday.
Best time to visit →For more on the Abbey together with the sights around Big Ben, see the guide on Westminster Abbey at big-ben.org.
Plan the rest of your visit
The Abbey is one stop in Westminster.
